Pack 01 – PBR Wood Materials

Wood is one of the most widely used materials in architectural visualization, yet finding textures that combine high resolution, realistic physical scale, and accurate color fidelity is not easy.

With this in mind, we have developed our first pack of PBR wood materials, designed for artists seeking realism, ease of use, and versatility in a single product.

Each of the 5 included species (oak, beech, cherry, iroko, and maple) was scanned at 32K and then optimized to 16K, ensuring outstanding sharpness, fine detail, and a real-world scale of 250 × 250 cm per texture. This translates into a maximum texel density of 64.5 px/cm. Optimized 8K and 4K versions are also included, offering greater flexibility depending on the type of project.

In addition, each wood type is available in 2 color variants and 8 real physical finishes (natural, matte, satin, semi-gloss, gloss, oiled, dark wax, and shellac), simulating the most common treatments in architecture and woodworking.

The pack includes a library of ready-to-use PBR materials for V-Ray and Corona Renderer, perfectly organized by species and finish. In total, you get 80 unique materials, ready to apply to your scenes with speed, artistic control, and the highest quality.

High-resolution, true-to-scale textures

To create PBR materials that are not only detailed but also physically accurate, each wood type was scanned from two real boards measuring 250 × 150 cm, photographed at 32K resolution with cross-polarization to eliminate unwanted specular reflections.
Colors were calibrated using a ColorChecker to ensure a realistic and consistent physical albedo.

The two halves were meticulously stitched together to form a final 250 × 250 cm texture, with seamless continuity and no visible repetitions or artificial seams.

From this scan, we generated three optimized versions, tailored to different production needs:

• 16K with a texel density of 65.5 px/cm – ideal for extreme close-up renders (possibly excessive for most projects).

• 8K with a texel density of 32.7 px/cm – perfect for high-resolution renders without losing detail.

• 4K with a texel density of 16.3 px/cm – offering a solid balance between quality and optimization, ideal for most situations.

All versions are included and organized in a ready-to-use library for maximum convenience across compatible render engines.

Maps and formats included

To achieve greater realism, we have included several maps to control the IOR and coat of our woods, as well as extensive use of the coat layer. This allows different finishes to be added to each wood without the need for multiple albedos, providing greater flexibility and control over the final appearance.

• Albedo: Faithful representation of the original color. sRGB
  
• Normal Map: Normals in OpenGL format. RAW
  
• Roughness: Normalized to maximize versatility. RAW
  
• Cavity: For conditioning AO or IOR. RAW
  
• Mask: A normalized grayscale version for various uses. RAW

PBR Materials Included in the Library

All the PBR materials shown below are provided in 3 versions:

• Original texture 250×250 cm. Free of artifacts, with original single pixels preserved.
• Tileable texture 250×250 cm. So you don’t have to worry about repetition.
• Tileable texture with Triplanar Mapping. For when UVW coordinates are not available.

All materials are available in the 3 previously mentioned resolutions (16K, 8K, and 4K), for V-Ray and Corona.
You will also find .mat libraries for direct loading in 3ds Max or your library manager, including thumbnails of each material.
